Writing Expectations
It is vital that we support children through the three areas of the writing process. We aim to be systematic in our approach and be explicit at every stage of our teaching. Through precise teaching and varied and effective scaffolding and modelling, children will be able to identify the elements of writing they need to include in order to develop and improve their own writing to become an effective, independent writer at each stage of their learning journey.
All year groups will use the FANTASTICS symbols from Book Talk as a methodology for developing ideas for writing fostering and developing vocabulary. This is supported by The GRAMMARISTICs system to reinforce teaching of the tools of writing, taking words into sentences and using accurate grammar and punctuation. The BOOMTASTICs symbols are used to support the teaching of techniques and literacy devices.
